Poker Bankroll Management
One of the most important disciplines in poker is to follow proper bankroll management. Poker is a game of high variance were even winning players can potentially lose their bankroll if they don’t follow good bankroll management. It is common to see players go broke because they play in games beyond their bankroll or are unwilling to move down to a lower limit when they are on a downswing. Moving down to a lower limit is difficult for a lot of players because they see it as a failure and their egos get in the way. Some good bankroll management rules to follow: 1. Don’t buy into a cash game or Sit & Go with more than 5% of your bankroll. 2. Don’t buy into a multi-table tournament for more than 2% of your bankroll. 3. Don’t move up in limits until your bankroll is large enough that you can follow rules 1 and 2 4. Move down to a lower limit if your bankroll is not large enough to follow rules 1 and 2 These rules may seem very conservative, but they will ensure that you are playing in games you can afford.
